A simple step-by-step guide to acquiring and securing bitcoin easily and safely.
- 1 bitcoin = 100,000,000 sats. If you acquire, say, 1 million sats (1/100 of a bitcoin), you'll often see it shown as 0.01 BTC.
- Since there are many ways to acquire and secure your bitcoin, this is just a simple suggestion that most people will be able to follow.
Read through all the steps first, so you have an overall idea of what to do — then start with step 1.

Step 1 — Create an account with Bull Bitcoin
Bull Bitcoin is a Bitcoin-only platform where you can safely and easily acquire bitcoin.

Step 2 — Get a hardware wallet
The BitBox02 is good and very easy to use. It ships from Switzerland, so you won't risk having to pay import duties. Make sure to choose the Bitcoin-only version.
Step 3 — Buy bitcoin and send it to your wallet
Once you've received your hardware wallet (see Step 2) and familiarized yourself with it and its software, you can buy bitcoin directly from your Bull Bitcoin account and send it to a bitcoin address generated with your hardware wallet.
- Hardware wallet – Store it safely and out of reach of others.
- MicroSD card backup and/or 24-word backup – Store these safely and never on devices with internet access. Follow the instructions that come with your hardware wallet.
- Passphrase (if used) – Store it separately from your 24 words. IMPORTANT❗ A password and a passphrase are two different things. A password is the code that unlocks your hardware wallet. A passphrase is an extra word used together with your backup — extra security, but also a risk if you lose it.
