Hardware Wallets
A guide to hardware wallets — the safest way to store your bitcoin.
On this page you'll find an overview of recommended hardware wallets from trustworthy Bitcoin companies.
Storing bitcoin
Hardware wallets — also known as signing devices — are one of the first things you should familiarize yourself with once you've acquired your first satoshis. Below are a few that we recommend. In the near future you'll be able to find help and guidance here on the website, but the first step is to get one, and there are already good tutorials on YouTube. It may sound fiddly, but it's not that hard to figure out. Always make a test transfer with a small amount before you send the rest. Above all, make sure to take your satoshis into your own custody.
You can see a list of recommended hardware wallets below. Once you've ordered a wallet, make sure you have a good understanding of how to back up your recovery words. You can read more about that here: Recovery words / seed phrase
Jade & Jade Plus
Blockstream has made a really nice hardware wallet, now in two sizes, both with a camera that lets you sign transactions using QR codes, among other things. That means they can be used "air-gapped" — they don't need to be connected to your computer and can communicate via QR codes instead. There can be various reasons to want this. They can also be connected with a cable if you prefer. Both versions can also be used with the Liquid network. For more information about Liquid, see here.
